Great Northerns (Large Whites)

Camellia's Famous Great Northerns
1 lb. Camellia Great Northern Beans
1/2 ham or seasoning meat
8-10 cups water
1 Tbs. shortening
1 onion, chopped
1 toe garlic, chopped
Salt and papper to taste

Cooking Directions
Rinse and sort beans. Cover with water and start to cook over low fire. Brown meat in shortening with onion and garlic, add to beans and cook about two hours, or until tender. If necessary, add water while cooking. Serves 8-10.
