  • 1 ½ cups cooked Camellia Brand Black Beans
  • 1/2 cup vital wheat gluten (pure gluten flour)
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Cooking spray
  • 5 burger buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Red onion slices
  • Mayonnaise

  1. Mash beans in a mixing bowl. Add wheat gluten, bread crumbs, cayenne, cumin, water, Worcestershire, garlic, and onion and combine.
  2. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Form 5 burger patties from mixture.
  4. Coat a preheated pan with olive oil. Cook patties for 5 minutes on each side. When flipping, spray each patty with cooking spray; this will allow for uniform browning.
  5.  Spread mayonnaise on bottom sides of buns. Top buns with burgers, garnishing with lettuce, tomato, and red onion.
